Epitome Pre-Alpha Checklist

Wishlist and reading hygiene while the Steam page still says Coming soon.

Pre-Alpha Checklist

This checklist is for people who keep opening Epitome tabs and still cannot say whether they wishlist’d Steam, joined Discord, or only watched a trailer. It is not a backer portal. Kickstarter funded between January 29 and February 28, 2026 and put a persistent pre-alpha in backers’ hands. If you missed that window, ticking boxes here will not mint a key. It will keep you from confusing a Coming soon store page with a download button.

The list saves in this browser only. Clearing site data clears your ticks. Another PC will not see them. That is intentional. A cloud checklist would look like an account system, and Epitome already has a real one: the Epitome System Account mentioned on Steam, which can link to Steam and sits beside Armorify.it anti-cheat.

Use this page after you understand the current slice testers describe: often one map (M1), two cities, four biomes, play into the low twenties. Gear and enemy counts in public write-ups disagree — older campaign language around seventy items versus later larger totals. Do not wait for this wiki to invent a single official number before you wishlist.

What each box is actually asking

Wishlist on Steam is the only store-shaped “I’m interested” signal that does not cost money. Epitome is planned as free-to-play with a no pay-to-win claim. Wishlisting is not a pledge. It is a notification hook for when Coming soon stops being the headline.

Join the official Discord is where test notes, canceled-pledge chaos, and rumor control actually happen. Prefer links from official links over a random invite in a YouTube comment.

Open epitomegame.com is the studio site. If a third-party “Epitome launcher” appears in search ads, compare it to this domain before you type a password.

Read estimated system requirements exists because Steam’s hardware lines are still estimates. Run the PC check if you want the short version, then the full requirements guide for CPU SKUs and SSD notes.

Run the class picker exists because Warrior, Ninja, and Shaman are the three basic creates, while Necromancer and Elementalist sit behind Morality Metrics. Some pre-alpha clients let testers create a Necromancer anyway. That exception is not the Steam create screen.

Read Aria versus Zetia exists because faction is a real create-time story beat — all Archons versus Zethar’s supremacy — not a DPS glyph. Learn AI NPC memory exists because the pitch is conversation, negotiation, and consequences for ignoring people, not a silent exclamation-mark quest board. Read the first look exists so Kickstarter skepticism sits next to the AI demo, not underneath it.

Tick the public steps

Work top to bottom. External items open in a new tab. Wiki items stay on this site.

What a completed list does not mean

It does not mean you have pre-alpha. Backer access came from Kickstarter tiers (coverage cited a low cash tier that included the then-current build, which was supposed to remain online as a test server). If you did not pledge, you are in the public line: wishlist, Discord, wait.

It does not mean combat is finished. Some players describe a weighty, timing-based loop; others describe an unfinished action layer. Both can be true while the studio iterates. Do not schedule your identity around a speculative letter from the Class Path Tier List Hub.

It does not mean the end-of-2026 full-release hope is a contract. Campaign language described closed testing, then open alpha, then open beta, then a hoped-for full release by the end of 2026. That pipeline is documented on the Kickstarter roadmap. Phases can slip. Kickstarter MMOs have a graveyard. The first look page is there so this checklist does not become a hype conveyor.

It does not convert Archon Seals into power. Coverage frames Seals as cosmetic and utility currency under the no pay-to-win claim. If a web item shop using Seals appears later, treat it as a news item, not as a box on this list.

It does not pick your engine belief. Steam prints Unreal Engine 5.4; Kickstarter talked 5.7. You can tick every box without resolving that.

How to use this beside the rest of the wiki

After Steam and Discord are ticked, open how to play so character create is not a surprise. After the class picker is ticked, open the classes hub and only then glance at starter path rankings. After the first-look box is ticked, you are allowed to stay excited about AI NPCs without pretending the MMO is shipped.

Online play is MMO-shaped: parties, trade, PvP, a claimed huge shardless instance. This checklist assumes you might meet other people. If you wanted a single-player Unreal demo, you will still find NPC conversation in the pitch — and you will still be on a multiplayer product.

Revisit the list when a public phase changes: closed test notes, open alpha talk, open beta, or a Steam date that is not Coming soon. Untick “first look” if your opinion moved; leave Steam ticked. The point is a shorter, truer to-do list, not a perfect score.

Checking every box does not grant a key. It only means you will not be surprised when the store page still says Coming soon — and that you already know which official door to watch when that sentence finally changes.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers for wishlist, classes, and pre-alpha questions.

Does finishing this checklist give pre-alpha access?

No. Pre-alpha access in public coverage came from Kickstarter backing. This page is wishlist and reading hygiene for everyone else.

I already pledged. Is the list useless?

The Steam, Discord, specs, class, faction, NPC, and first-look items still prevent tunnel vision on a single test build. Skip anything that duplicates a backer portal you already use.

Why does progress vanish in another browser?

Ticks live in local storage on this device. That keeps the tool from impersonating an account system. Steam and Discord are the durable checkmarks.

What if a box links to a page I already read?

Tick it. The list is a memory aid, not a quiz. Re-read the [first look](/updates/first-look/) only if your expectations drifted back into trailer-only mode.

Where do I go when the list is done?

Stay on [official links](/links/) for verification, the [Updates Hub](/updates/) for phase talk, and [Tools Hub](/tools/) if you still need the picker or PC check.
